Musical Notes

  • PYO is a continuation of the very successful Penrith Strings program, in which students for the last three years have received teaching and coaching from the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the Penrith Symphony Orchestra in four projects throughout the year. Each project consists of three consecutive Sundays.  The students get to play with members of the ACO and at concerts with PSO at the Joan Sutherland Centre.   • Harp Friends! Mitchell Conservatorium Bathurst, in partnership with Harps Australia, is hosting a first ever harp weekend entitled "The World of Harps" from 23-25 September 2017. You are invited to join us for as much of the time as you wish. Please read the attached outline of the weekend, and Monday's harp ensemble workshop.  Saturday is for harpists all day and Sunday is an Open Day to include the public. Monday is for harpists all day and will feature a workshop (advance registration ) with Monday's guest harpist, Jayne Hockley.  The Saturday and Sunday harping will focus on playing together informally in a circle at your own level…

  • We had such wonderful feedback this week from students, teachers and concert goers who attended the workshops and performances with Acacia Quartet​ over the weekend! Mitchell Conservatorium is proud to organise events such as this to encourage and develop talent around the region. Thanks again to the Acacia Quartet!
