Mitchell Conservatorium's Early Childhood Music classes are a wonderful introduction to the world of music for children as young as 18 months of age. A carefully sequenced program starts with eighteen month to two-year-old children and continues until eight years, although children may join at any of the early stages. Parents and carers are valuable partners as children enjoy play-based singing and instrumental activities, honing fine and gross motor skills, as well as social and musical skills, in developmentally appropriate musical engagement.
Using the principles of Kodaly, Orff and Dalcroze, we create an early childhood music program that is centred around play, engagement and active participation, led by qualified and experienced teachers.
Teachers use their own voice and live music in all classes, as well as recorded musics to ensure students experience a wide range of instruments, cultural influences and styles.
