Harp Friends!
Mitchell Conservatorium Bathurst, in partnership with Harps Australia, is hosting a first ever harp weekend entitled "The World of Harps" from 23-25 September 2017.
You are invited to join us for as much of the time as you wish. Please read the attached outline of the weekend, and Monday's harp ensemble workshop.
Saturday is for harpists all day and Sunday is an Open Day to include the public. Monday is for harpists all day and will feature a workshop (advance registration $35) with Monday's guest harpist, Jayne Hockley.
The Saturday and Sunday harping will focus on playing together informally in a circle at your own level with options for very beginner (one finger parts) to two hand parts with a melody.  We want to encourage you to come and browse and sit and play without fear or shyness.
The pieces for Saturday and Sunday are well known, such as Greensleeves, Scarborough Fair (in Dorian), Pachelbel Canon in C, Brian Boru's March, - some with easy chord sequences and some with repetitive accompaniment. Please let me know if you have an ensemble piece to contribute. Monday's pieces will be different but with similar flexibility of parts.
Harps Australia will be setting up appointments for repairs and harp purchase or rental options. Harp Bazaar will be selling all the extras we need as harpists, and Verna Lee will take bookings for individual harp lessons.  I am also considering a trade table for anyone to sell/buy pre-loved harp stuff or sell their own CDs.
The booked Stables Village accommodation is fabulous ! We even have our own little chapel ! Saturday night is open for ideas, perhaps involving a barbecue at the village and a "Noson Lawen" (merry evening) in which people contribute music, songs, poems etc...We want you to have a fun weekend. Partners are welcome but doubles are limited at the accommodation so please book early !
Many thanks for considering all of this and please stay in touch .... we need you !!!
